Raspberry leaf
Raspberry leaf is very useful at the first signs of an inflamed or irritated throat. Having an astringent quality, it tones the tissues of the throat and oesophagus and imparts strength and vitality to the area. It is excellent for supporting the body in resolving infection or inflammation, including tonsillitis and pharyngitis.
Agrimony
Long used as a Spring tonic, agrimony has a wonderful ability to soothe sore throats and resolve the loss of voice. It does this by reducing and clearing catarrhal build-up, and by having a powerful toning action on the tissues of the area, thanks to its astringent qualities. It protects and strengthens the lining of the respiratory tract. Agrimony is also useful to protect against bacterial and viral infections, and it is helpful to relieve spasms in the chest and irritating coughs.
Wild indigo
Wild indigo has many healing properties, not least at supporting the body to combat infections of the throat. It can ease pain and swelling of the lymph glands of the neck. It enhances immunity and is a potent antimicrobial offering support when dealing with acute and chronic infections.
Sage
A wonderfully aromatic herb, sage is another go-to to bring relief to sore throats. This herb’s affinity for the vocal area and its all-round ability in soothing and easing infections makes it a must for inclusion in our Vocal ease tincture. It helps clear out any catarrh, stimulates immune action and helps resolve any bacterial, viral or fungal infections, particularly in the upper respiratory area.
Marshmallow root
Marshmallow root is rich in a moistening substance called mucilage, which makes it incredibly soothing and very effective to relieve any irritation and inflammation. It is ideal to nourish and protect mucous membranes along the respiratory tract. It is very soothing for the tissues, and excellent to assist with clearing catarrh and infections, as it stimulates the production of white blood cells.
Mullein
Like other herbs in this formula, mullein is also brilliant at restoring comfort in your throat. It is a soothing expectorant, very effective against harsh, irritating, dry coughs, sore throats and inflammatory conditions in the throat, pharynx, trachea and bronchi. It is relaxing, decongestant and antiseptic, meaning that it helps clear phlegm and aids in resolving infections. It enhances immunity and has anti-inflammatory actions, helping relieve the pain of swollen glands.
Icelandic moss
Icelandic moss has been used in European folk medicine for centuries, mainly to soothe coughs and other upper respiratory complaints. It is rich in a starch called lichenin, which is particularly soothing to irritated mucous membranes that line the respiratory tract and nasal passages. It also stimulates immunity and helps combat bacterial and viral infections. It softens and relaxes the throat, keeping your voice beautiful and you comfortable!
Sweet flag
