What is Fucus serratus?

There are many different types of seaweed. Some can be eaten and others, like our Fucus Serratus, are instead ideal for bath and skincare products.

Fucus Serratus is also known as Toothed Wrack or Serrated Wrack. It’s found in the North Atlantic and survives by filtering the water for nutrients. As a result, it has a high mineral and vitamin content. The natural oils that are extracted when you add it to a warm bath include antioxidant compounds that promote anti-ageing, conditioning and moisturising effects on the skin, hair and face.

The Benefits of a Fucus serratus Seaweed Bath

  • Studies have shown that Fucus serratus improves Type 1 collagen production in the skin.

  • This seaweed contains the carotenoids fucoxanthin and beta-carotene, and Vitamin E.

  • Fucus Serratus has been shown to encourage the synthesis of new collagen and prevent the breakdown of existing collagen, in turn becoming a foundation of many anti-ageing treatments.

This seaweed is not edible.

This product contains toothed wrack seaweed and Epsom salts.

Take a handful of seaweed and soak in a warm bath for five minutes before taking a bath. You may also wish to add a handful of Epsom salts into the bath water for an even more relaxing experience. This seaweed is not for consumption.
