Also known as the ‘king of bitters’, andrographis is a powerful immune booster with natural antimicrobial, antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal properties. Clinical trials demonstrate its effectiveness against bacterial and viral respiratory infections, including the common cold, acute sinusitis or tonsillitis. It is specifically indicated to improve immune function in bacterial and viral infections — in addition to other benefits such as supporting liver function, modulating inflammation and balancing blood sugar levels.
Echinacea is a well-loved and well-researched herb, much used in winter months. Taken at the first signs of infection, it helps boost the body’s immune response, by increasing the number of white blood cells and their efficiency in fighting infection. Echinacea also contributes to the clearance of metabolic waste from the body, making it useful for infective and/or inflammatory skin conditions, such as eczema and acne.
Also known as holy basil, tulsi is seen as a sacred plant in India. It supports immune function and has natural antimicrobial and antiinflammatory properties. It has an uplifting and strengthening effect on mind and body. It can help to ease coughs and fevers, support the elimination of excessive mucus and clear the airways. Tulsi also eases stress and anxiety and enhances cognitive function. Studies suggest that tulsi can help balance blood pressure, protect the liver, and promote healthy skin.
Elderberry is both delicious and a natural antiviral. It’s also a powerful antioxidant. Elderberries have been shown to have an antiviral action, inhibiting colds and flus, and they stimulate the body’s immune response to infections. They are also strongly antioxidant and help protect cells from the effects of pollution, stress, toxins and other environmental stressors.
Olive leaf helps ease irritated and inflamed conditions, and is strongly antioxidant – making cell membranes more stable and less susceptible to destruction by free radicals. It also stimulates digestion and bile flow, and soothes the mucous membranes lining our respiratory tract. It has antimicrobial properties and helps the body fight infections.
Rosehip boosts immunity through its richness in vitamins C, A, B and K. It can be taken to improve joint flexibility, relieve pain and strengthen bones, skin, and blood vessels. It’s also a natural anti-inflammatory.
